How to play Allison: key, chords and progression

Allison by Soccer Mommy is built around D major (two sharps: F♯, C♯), with 4 chords in all: D, G, Em and F#m.

The progression the song keeps returning to is G – D – G – Em (IV – I – IV – ii in D major). In solfa, that is fah – doh – fah – reh. Learn these 4 changes first and most of the song falls into place.

Good to know: F#m is played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into it slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
