How to play Music Makes My Day: key, chords and progression

These are Music Makes My Day chords by Marvin, Welch & Farrar on Piano, Ukulele, Guitar, and Keyboard.

Music Makes My Day by Marvin, Welch & Farrar is built around C major (no sharps or flats), with 19 chords in all: C, Cadd9, Am, Dm, G, Em7, Dm7, Gm7, Gm, C7, F and D and 7 more.

The backbone of the song is G – C – Cadd9 – C (V – I – Iadd9 – I in C major). In solfa, that is soh – doh – doh – doh. Practise these 4 changes until they feel natural and you can play most of it.

Good to know: Gm7, Gm, F, Ab and Cm are the tricky part on guitar (barre or movable shapes). Slow the change down until it is clean; on piano and ukulele they are simpler.
