[Verse 1]
C
I know that I can
              Em C
be impossible

I'd say I'm sorry, but
                 Em Em7
 I'm never gonna let go
                 Cmaj7 Em7
It feels like my heart broke

The second I said "no"
C
But I regret it now,
               Em C
 I didn't know
I couldn't live another
                  Em Em7
 minute in your blue light
              Cmaj7 Em7
Like Mazzy in starlight
Oh my God,
 I left you at midnight

[Pre-Chorus]
C
Darling, I need
Em
Darling, I need
D
Darling, I need
C
Darling, I need
      Em Em7
you here tonight
You're all that
          Cmaj7 Em7
I wanted
And it's so hard to
 look at the downside

[Chorus]
F
I wanna listen to
      G
you whisper to me
Em
I wanna watch bad
   F
 American movies
F
Don't wanna give another
  G
kiss with my baby on
       Am C
my mind
F
It wasn't kind,
          G
 it was kind of boring
Em F
I put a pill in my cup
 every morning
F
And when I die,
                 G
I'll get those cold copper
                Am C
 kisses on my eyes
F
And now I'm fighting
        G C
for a look at the downside

How to play Downside: key, chords and progression

These are Downside chords by I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME on Piano, Ukulele, Guitar, and Keyboard.

Downside by I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME is built around C major (no sharps or flats), with 8 chords in all: C, Em, Em7, Cmaj7, D, F, G and Am.

Most of the song cycles through C – Em – Em7 – Cmaj7 (I – iii – iii7 – Imaj7 in C major). In solfa, that is doh – mi – mi – doh. Get these 4 changes smooth and the rest comes quickly.

Beginner-friendly: on guitar almost every chord is an open shape, which makes this a good song to learn early on.
