How to play Drowning: key, chords and progression

Drowning by The Eden Project is written in A major (three sharps: F♯, C♯, G♯) and moves through 8 chords: E, B, G, D, A, Am, C and Em.

The backbone of the song is D – A – E – B (IV – I – V – II in A major). In solfa, that is fah – doh – soh – reh. Practise these 4 changes until they feel natural and you can play most of it.

Beginner-friendly: on guitar almost every chord is an open shape, which makes this a good song to learn early on.
