How to play Nothing Else Matters: key, chords and progression

Nothing Else Matters by Miley Cyrus feat. watt, Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, Robert Trujillo, Chad Smith is in the key of E minor (one sharp: F♯). The song uses 9 chords: Em, Am, C, D, G, B7, B, A and Bm.

The progression the song keeps returning to is Em – D – C – Em (i – VII – VI – i in E minor). Learn these 4 changes first and most of the song falls into place.

Good to know: B and Bm are played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into them slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
