How to play Tequila Or Whiskey: key, chords and progression

Tequila Or Whiskey by Willow Avalon sits in G major (one sharp: F♯), and you need 4 chords to play it: G, C, Em and D.

Listen for G – D – Em – C (I – V – vi – IV in G major), the “four-chord” progression behind countless pop, rock and worship songs: the song comes back to it again and again. In solfa, that is doh – soh – lah – fah. Once these 4 changes are comfortable, most of the song is done.

Beginner-friendly: on guitar every chord is an open shape, which makes this a good song to learn early on.
