[Intro]
D/F# G Bm A

[Verse 1]
D/F# G
As sure as death and taxes
     Bm A
You know I'm gonna let You down
D/F# G
And even though I deserve them
      Bm A
Those stones are still on
the ground
D/F# G
So many times You've forgiven me
Bm A
Even while I was Your enemy
     D/F# G
Yeah more than just 7 times 70
Bm A
I can see it finally

[Chorus]
D/F# G
Mercy's not a pretty word
It gets down in the dirt
Bm A
 For better or for worse
     D/F# G
And sometimes it's gonna hurt
To love without reserve
Bm A
 But Jesus did it first
                 D/F# G
And now it's our turn....
              Bm A
Now it's our turn..
              D/F# G
Now it's our turn....
              Bm A
Now it's our turn...

 But there is something beautiful
         Bm A
When we bring it into the light

Mercy's not a pretty word
It gets down in the dirt
