How to play Leave The City: key, chords and progression

To play Leave The City by twenty one pilots, think in G major (one sharp: F♯). It takes 6 chords: CM, Em, D, Bm, Cm and G.

The progression the song keeps returning to is CM – Em – D – Bm (IV – vi – V – iii in G major). In solfa, that is fah – lah – soh – mi. Learn these 4 changes first and most of the song falls into place.

Good to know: Bm and Cm are played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into them slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
