How to play Milkyway: key, chords and progression
These are Milkyway chords by The Ridleys on Piano, Ukulele, Guitar, and Keyboard.
Milkyway by The Ridleys keeps coming home to D major (two sharps: F♯, C♯). You need 7 chords: G, Dmaj7, Em, A, F#m, Bm and C.
Listen for A – Dmaj7 – F#m – G (V – Imaj7 – iii – IV in D major): the song comes back to it again and again. In solfa, that is soh – doh – mi – fah. Once these 4 changes are comfortable, most of the song is done.
Good to know: F#m and Bm are played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into them slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
