How to play The English Alphabet: key, chords and progression

The English Alphabet is built around C major (no sharps or flats), with 8 chords in all: C, F, A, B, D, E, G and G7.

Most of the song cycles through C – F – C – G (I – IV – I – V in C major). In solfa, that is doh – fah – doh – soh. Get these 4 changes smooth and the rest comes quickly.

Good to know: on guitar, F and B need a barre or movable shape. Take the change into them slowly at first; piano and ukulele players have it easier.
