How to play Need: key, chords and progression

Need by Taylor Swift is in the key of E minor (one sharp: F♯). The song uses 7 chords: Em, D/F#, Am, C, G, Cm and G#.

The progression the song keeps returning to is D/F# – C – G – D/F# (VII – VI – III – VII in E minor). Learn these 4 changes first and most of the song falls into place.

Good to know: Cm and G# are played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into them slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
