How to play Disobedient: key, chords and progression

Disobedient by Steven Universe The Movie is centred on E major (four sharps: F♯, C♯, G♯, D♯). The song uses 8 chords: E, B, C#m, G#, G#m, Am, C and D.

Listen for E – B – C#m – G# (I – V – vi – III in E major): the song comes back to it again and again. In solfa, that is doh – soh – lah – mi. Once these 4 changes are comfortable, most of the song is done.

Good to know: B, C#m, G# and G#m are played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into them slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
