How to play Sandstorm: key, chords and progression

Sandstorm by Passenger is centred on G major (one sharp: F♯). The song uses 13 chords: Am, Bm, G, Am7, C, Gsus4, G5, Em7, Asus2, Em, F and E and 1 more.

The progression the song keeps returning to is Am – F – C – Em (ii – ♭VII – IV – vi in G major). Learn these 4 changes first and most of the song falls into place.

Good to know: Bm, F and B are played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into them slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
