[Verse 1]
Bm
You could get hit by a car or train
Or get electrocuted in the rain
You could find a monster in your
closet by your sneakers
               Em
You could find out the monster
is actually your teacher
                 Bm
You could have a dad with
a friend named Jack
But when Jack's around mommy
gets slapped
And if you tell mommy that
she deserves better
                G
You'll have to cover up
                      E
your bruises with a sweater

[Pre-Chorus]
Bm
I know your heart is broken
G
Feels like your world's been stolen
D A
I promise that it could be worse
(It could be worse)
Bm
I know you miss those kisses
G
There are so many fishes
D A
I promise that it could be worse
(It could be worse)

How to play Papercut: key, chords and progression

These are the chords for Papercut by Melanie Martinez on Piano, Ukulele, Guitar, and Keyboard

Papercut by Melanie Martinez is written in B minor (two sharps: F♯, C♯) and moves through 9 chords: Bm, G, D, C#m, F#m, Em, E, A and Am.

Most of the song cycles through A – Bm – G – D (VII – i – VI – III in B minor). Get these 4 changes smooth and the rest comes quickly.

Good to know: Bm, C#m and F#m are the tricky part on guitar (barre or movable shapes). Slow the change down until it is clean; on piano and ukulele they are simpler.
