How to play Motion: key, chords and progression

Motion by Khalid keeps coming home to C major (no sharps or flats). You need 6 chords: Dm, C, E, G, A and B.

Listen for Dm – C – G – Dm (ii – I – V – ii in C major): the song comes back to it again and again. In solfa, that is reh – doh – soh – reh. Once these 4 changes are comfortable, most of the song is done.

Beginner-friendly: on guitar almost every chord is an open shape, which makes this a good song to learn early on.
