How to play Eleven: key, chords and progression

Eleven by Khalid is centred on A minor (no sharps or flats). The song uses 4 chords: Am7, Cmaj7, Em7 and Gmaj7.

The progression the song keeps returning to is Am7 – Cmaj7 – Em7 – Gmaj7 (i7 – IIImaj7 – v7 – VIImaj7 in A minor). Learn these 4 changes first and most of the song falls into place.

Beginner-friendly: on guitar every chord is an open shape, which makes this a good song to learn early on.
