How to play Dreams Wash Away: key, chords and progression

Dreams Wash Away by Joe Wong is centred on D major (two sharps: F♯, C♯). The song uses 8 chords: D, C, F, G, A, Bm, F#m and F#.

The progression the song keeps returning to is D – F# – G – D (I – III – IV – I in D major). In solfa, that is doh – mi – fah – doh. Learn these 4 changes first and most of the song falls into place.

Good to know: F, Bm, F#m and F# are played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into them slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
