How to play Pancakes And Butter: key, chords and progression

These are Pancakes And Butter chords by Jason Mraz on Piano, Ukulele, Guitar, and Keyboard.

Pancakes And Butter by Jason Mraz sits in D major (two sharps: F♯, C♯), and you need 9 chords to play it: G, A, D, Bm, Em, F#m, E#m, Bb and C.

The backbone of the song is G – A – D – G (IV – V – I – IV in D major). In solfa, that is fah – soh – doh – fah. Practise these 4 changes until they feel natural and you can play most of it.

Good to know: on guitar, Bm, F#m, E#m and Bb need a barre or movable shape. Take the change into them slowly at first; piano and ukulele players have it easier.
