How to play Ocean Wide Canyon Deep: key, chords and progression

Ocean Wide Canyon Deep by Jacob Collier is built around D major (two sharps: F♯, C♯), with 19 chords in all: Dadd2, Dadd2/G, Dadd2/A, Dadd2/B, C6/G, C6/A, C6/D, DM9/B, CM9, AbM9, Bb and Cm7 and 7 more.

Most of the song cycles through Dadd2/G – Dadd2/A – Dadd2/B – Dadd2 (Iadd9 – Iadd9 – Iadd9 – Iadd9 in D major). In solfa, that is doh – doh – doh – doh. Get these 4 changes smooth and the rest comes quickly.

Good to know: Dadd2, Dadd2/G, Dadd2/A, Dadd2/B and DM9/B are played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into them slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
