[Verse 1]
    C
The days are cold
and the
G
cards all fold
        Am
and the saints
we see
        F
are all made
of gold.
     C
Your dreams
all fail
        G
and the ones
we hail
        Am
are the worst
of all,
    F
the blood's run
 stale.

[Pre-Chorus 1]
C
  I wanna hide
    G
the truth,
                Am
I wanna shelter you,
but with the beast
  F
inside
there's nowhere we
    C
can hide.
No matter what
   G
we breed, we

still are made
   Am
of greed,
this is my
        F
kingdom come,
this is my
        C
kingdom come.

[Chorus]
When you feel
   G
my heat,
look into
   Am
my eyes,
it's where
my demons
F
hide,
it's where my
       C
demons hide.
Don't get too
G
close,
            Am
it's dark inside,
it's where my
       F
demons hide,
it's where my
      (C)
demons hide.

[Interlude]
 C G Am F
   C'mon, Las Vegas!
C G Am F

[Verse 2]
       C
At the curtain's
 call,
         G
it's the last of all,
    Am
the lights fade out,
        F
all the sinners crawl.
     C
They dug your grave
        G
and the masquerade,
Am F
coming out at the mess
 you've made.

[Pre-Chorus 2]
C
  I don't wanna
 let you
G
down but I am
    Am
hellbound,
though this is all
    F
for you,
I don't wanna hide
    C
the truth.
No matter what
   G
we breed,
we still are made
   Am
of greed,
this is my kingdom
F
come, this is
           C
my kingdom come.

[Chorus]
                 G
When you feel my heat,
             Am
look into my eyes,
it's where my
       F
demons hide,
it's where my
       C
demons hide.
              G
Don't get too close,
            Am
it's dark inside,
it's where my
       F
demons hide,
it's where my
       C
demons hide.

[Bridge]
They say it's what
    G
you make, I say
           Am
it's up to fate,
it's woven in
   F
my soul,
                  C
I need to let you go
Your eyes, they
         G
shine so bright,
I wanna save that
Am
light
I can't escape this
F
now unless you
        C
show me how.

[End-Chorus]

When you feel
   G
my heat,
             Am
look into my eyes,
it's where my demons
F
hide, it's
                C
where my demons hide.
              G
Don't get too close,
            Am
it's dark inside,
it's where my demons
F
hide, it's
where my demons
 C
 hide.
G Am
    It's where my
demons
F
hide, it's where my
       C
demons hide.
G Am
    It's where my
       F
demons hide, it's
               C
where my demons hide.

How to play Demons Live: key, chords and progression

Demons Live by Imagine Dragons is in the key of C major (no sharps or flats). The song uses 7 chords: C, G, Am, F, Fm, D and E/G#.

Most of the song cycles through C – G – Am – F (I – V – vi – IV in C major), the “four-chord” progression behind countless pop, rock and worship songs. In solfa, that is doh – soh – lah – fah. Get these 4 changes smooth and the rest comes quickly.

Good to know: F and Fm are played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into them slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
