[Verse 1]
 F C
Started as a simple lie,
                        G
thinking love had chose us
 F C
We would talk into the night,
                 G
and nobody noticed
     F C
And I held on to every word,
G C
couldn't let you go and called
it hope
     F C
Now I’m so low, I can't ignore, we
only ever made it worse

[Chorus]
     C G
Then we become a brush fire,
                 F
burning all the pain
C G
How can we survive a
            F
desert without rain?
C G
And all along, your promise is
            F
that you're changing
 C F
Boy you know what to say,
  C F
before I turn away
         G
Your words hit me like
  C G F
a hard rain in L.A

[Verse 2]
 F C
Scared to turn and look behind,
                  G
think I’d see you hurting
    F Am
And even when I close my eyes,
                G
I feel like the burden (Oh)
     F Am
But I'm not yours anymore
G E
Everything you broke is ash
and smoke
     F Am
Now I'm so low, I can't ignore,
G
we only ever made it worse

[Chorus]
     C G
Then we become a brush fire,
                 F
burning all the pain
C G
How can we survive a
            F
desert without rain?
C G
And all along, your promise is
            F
that you're changing
 C F
Boy you know what to say,
  C F
before I turn away

How to play Brush Fire: key, chords and progression

These are the chords for Brush Fire by Gracie Abrams on Piano, Ukulele, Guitar, and Keyboard

Brush Fire by Gracie Abrams is written in C major (no sharps or flats) and moves through 8 chords: F, C, G, Am, E, Em, G#m and G#.

The backbone of the song is C – G – F – C (I – V – IV – I in C major). In solfa, that is doh – soh – fah – doh. Practise these 4 changes until they feel natural and you can play most of it.

Good to know: F, G#m and G# are the tricky part on guitar (barre or movable shapes). Slow the change down until it is clean; on piano and ukulele they are simpler.
