How to play Tenang: key, chords and progression

Tenang by GMS Live is centred on G major (one sharp: F♯). The song uses 17 chords: C, Em, Dm, F, G, G/C, Gm, A, Am, Gsus4, G/B and C/G and 5 more.

The backbone of the song is G – C – G/C – Gm (I – IV – I – i in G major). In solfa, that is doh – fah – doh – doh. Practise these 4 changes until they feel natural and you can play most of it.

Good to know: on guitar, F, Gm, Bm and F#m need a barre or movable shape. Take the change into them slowly at first; piano and ukulele players have it easier.
