How to play Wasted On You: key, chords and progression

Wasted On You by Evanescence is centred on G major (one sharp: F♯). The song uses 16 chords: G, B, Em, C, Cm, D, D#, A, A#, Fm, E and Dm and 4 more.

Listen for G – B – Em – C (I – III – vi – IV in G major): the song comes back to it again and again. In solfa, that is doh – mi – lah – fah. Once these 4 changes are comfortable, most of the song is done.

Good to know: B, Cm, D#, A# and Fm are the tricky part on guitar (barre or movable shapes). Slow the change down until it is clean; on piano and ukulele they are simpler.
