How to play Alone On Christmas Eve: key, chords and progression

Alone On Christmas Eve by Cade Earick keeps coming home to G major (one sharp: F♯). You need 8 chords: G, Am, D, D7, G7, C, Cm and E7.

Listen for Am – D – D7 – G (ii – V – V7 – I in G major): the song comes back to it again and again. In solfa, that is reh – soh – soh – doh. Once these 4 changes are comfortable, most of the song is done.

Beginner-friendly: almost every chord is an open chord on guitar, so you can play it without a capo or barre chords.
