How to play Stay Gentle: key, chords and progression

These are the chords for Stay Gentle by Brandi Carlile on Piano, Ukulele, Guitar, and Keyboard

To play Stay Gentle by Brandi Carlile, think in G major (one sharp: F♯). It takes 9 chords: G, Em, Am7, D, Am, Bm, C, B and A.

Listen for Am – D – G – Em (ii – V – I – vi in G major): the song comes back to it again and again. In solfa, that is reh – soh – doh – lah. Once these 4 changes are comfortable, most of the song is done.

Good to know: on guitar, Bm and B need a barre or movable shape. Take the change into them slowly at first; piano and ukulele players have it easier.
