How to play Hiding Bottles: key, chords and progression

Hiding Bottles by Bear’s Den is written in D major (two sharps: F♯, C♯) and moves through 6 chords: Gadd9, Aadd11, D/B, D2, Dmaj7 and Aadd9.

The backbone of the song is D/B – Aadd11 – D2 – Dmaj7 (I – V – Isus2 – Imaj7 in D major). In solfa, that is doh – soh – doh – doh. Practise these 4 changes until they feel natural and you can play most of it.

Good to know: Gadd9, Aadd11 and Aadd9 are played as barre or movable shapes on guitar. Practise the change into them slowly; on piano and ukulele the same chords are easier.
