How to play Sos: key, chords and progression

To play Sos by Avicii feat. Aloe Blacc, think in E minor (one sharp: F♯). It takes 4 chords: Em, D, C and G.

Listen for C – D – Em – G (VI – VII – i – III in E minor): the song comes back to it again and again. Once these 4 changes are comfortable, most of the song is done.

Beginner-friendly: every chord here is an open shape on guitar: no capo, no barre chords needed.
