How to play Off The Grid: key, chords and progression

Off The Grid by Alina Baraz feat. Khalid is built around G major (one sharp: F♯), with 6 chords in all: C6, Gmaj9, G, Gmaj7, D and G6.

Most of the song cycles through Gmaj9 – G – Gmaj7 – G (I – I – Imaj7 – I in G major). In solfa, that is doh – doh – doh – doh. Get these 4 changes smooth and the rest comes quickly.

Good to know: on guitar, Gmaj9 and G6 need a barre or movable shape. Take the change into them slowly at first; piano and ukulele players have it easier.
